Biography — Christoph Gedschold
Christoph Gedschold is a sought-after conductor of the great German Romantic tradition — from Wagner and Strauss to Bruckner and Mahler cycles.
As Music Director of Oper Leipzig (2022–24), he conducted works including Der Rosenkavalier, Elektra, Salome, Tristan und Isolde, Lohengrin, Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg, Peter Grimes and Otello with the Gewandhausorchester.
As a renowned Strauss and Wagner interpreter, he led Elektra and Ariadne auf Naxos at the Semperoper Dresden, Ariadne in Frankfurt, Der Fliegende Holländer in Düsseldorf, Götterdämmerung and Lohengrin in Oviedo.
He has a special affinity for Slavic repertoire: Die Passagierin by Weinberg at Semperoper Dresden and Oper Frankfurt, Rusalka in Cologne, Eugene Onegin in Zurich, Katja Kabanova in Hamburg.
